I worked as a designer at Hunnarshala Foundation’s Community Empowerment Unit, engaging in participatory design with local communities and craftspeople. The experience challenged my assumptions about design as a default solution, pushing me to question when it is truly needed- and when it becomes overreach. It reshaped my approach toward respect, shared authorship, and designing with rather than for.
DESCRIPTION
As an intern I visited the site with the design team to assess the phase one construction of a school project in Rajasthan. Developed SIte observation report and designed details of a stone rain spout channel. Contributed to the Sport COmples of a school in Pune- which had new badminton court to be designed and an administrative block that was an addaptive reuse. Supported various community empowering projects by helping with presentations for the slum rehabilitation project under the governments schemes and prepared a construction training manual for laborers in Nepal. Facilitated knowledge exchange through campus tours and workshops, fostering community engagement and architectural awareness.
